Hi, I’m Molly. I didn’t set out to become a dahlia hoarder… and yet, here we are. I’d love to say that Snake River Dahlias was part of some well-thought-out business plan, but the truth is it all started with a couple of innocent dahlia tubers on my tiny porch during COVID (you know, “just something to keep me busy”).
Very quickly spiraling into a full-blown obsession, one minute I was researching “how to grow dahlias,” and the next I’m reorganizing my entire life around bloom schedules, tuber storage, and convincing myself that I definitely have room for just one more variety. Spoiler alert: I never do. BUT—I happen to have the world’s best husband (read: enabler) who never stops cheering me on, no matter how questionable my dahlia math gets.
Snake River Dahlias is the result of equal parts dirt therapy, stubbornness, and a complete inability to stop collecting these ridiculously beautiful flowers (we’ll call it “passion” and not denial). It exists because I refused to stop at “a reasonable amount” and chose chaos instead—and honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Behind the scenes, it’s not just pretty blooms and photo ops—there’s a borderline obsessive level of cleanliness ensuring that our flower growing practices keep everything thriving. At Snake River Dahlias, we take sanitization seriously: tools are cleaned between each plant (not just each variety—yes, every… single… one) using a 10% bleach solution. Our Idaho dahlias are monitored like hawks (and not just for the perfect bloom moment), and anything questionable doesn’t get a second chance. When in doubt, it’s out.
From careful processing to meticulous tuber storage, every step is done with intention to protect the health and integrity of each variety. As a small, Idaho-proud business, we believe quality matters, details matter, and how your dahlias are grown matters. Supporting small also means trusting that real care—not shortcuts—is going into what you’re bringing home.
A little intense? Maybe. But when you’ve put this much time into growing something beautiful, cutting corners just isn’t part of the plan.
